In an aggressive crackdown against the organized illicit water distribution racket in western Karachi, a joint task force comprising KWSC enforcement teams and local law enforcement executed coordinated raids on five illegal water hydrants.
Twelve suspects, including key hydrant operators and commercial tanker drivers, were taken into custody while twelve high-capacity water tanker trucks and heavy-duty electric pumping equipment were confiscated on site.
KWSC officials revealed that the illegal hydrants were illicitly tapped directly into the 48-inch Hub Dam water supply pipeline, depriving residential consumers in Orangi, SITE, and Surjani of their lawful water allocations.
First Information Reports (FIRs) under relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code and the Water Corporation Act have been registered, with authorities affirming that punitive crackdowns will continue unhindered across all districts.
